Voting is now closed, but Chryssi is in the running in the Fan Choice category for the 2016 Transgender Erotica Awards. You can follow her on Twitter at @ChryssiSteele and I’m proud to present our interview:
PornOCD: How was growing up in your home town?
Chryssi: I grew up in a pretty small town about an hour or so outside of Vancouver. It was a pretty religious area so I grew up with a lot of Christian and Mormon influences, even though my family was atheist, Other than that, it was a pretty average small town. Everyone was connected in someway so there was no real privacy.
PornOCD: When did you first feel you were living in the wrong body?
Chryssi: The earliest I can remember was about probably around 7 or 8 years old. It wasn’t until I was about 14 that I learned about being transgendered and that I wasn’t alone in the way I was feeling. It still took me almost another decade before I actually started transitioning on my 23rd birthday.
PornOCD: How did your family & friends take your decision to live as TS?
Chryssi: My friends took it quite well. I had a few quietly slip out of my life after I came out, but for the most part my social circle was fairly solid. I’d been out in the queer scene as pansexual since I was 16, and an active part of the local BDSM/Kink community since I was 19 so most of my friends were pretty open minded towards such things. My family however was not so understanding. Just before my one year mark on HRT I was told that I was no longer a part of the family. That was the last time I had contact with any blood relations.
PornOCD: Who adorned your bedroom walls growing up?
Chryssi: As a teenager I definitely had a thing for the “rebellious” bands, all the stuff that is now generally considered pop-punk, so my walls were covered with stuff from Green Day, Sum 41, Good Charlotte, Blink 182, AFI. I never got much into movie stars or athletes.
PornOCD: Who was your first big crush on?
Chryssi: Leonardo Dicaprio. I remember watching ‘Titanic’ in my very early teens and being very very attracted to him.
PornOCD: What music really connected with you growing up?
Chryssi: A lot of pop punk stuff, things that were really “edgy” in a religious town. The one album that still really resonates with me is the first album from Billy Talent. A few of the songs on there really clicked with me, especially “Nothing to Lose”.
PornOCD: When did you first view porn?
Chryssi: I don’t think I actually watched porn until I was 15, but I got into reading erotica at around 13. It was way easier to hide and most of the websites I went to for it had pretty normal sounding names, so snooping parents had no idea.
PornOCD: When did you first think about trying to break into TS porn genre?
Chryssi: Around mid 2014, I was off work at the time and wanted some extra cash and it seemed like fun. It was later that year that I met the head of Metaverse XXX at a Christmas party. We started talking and now, just a year later, I’m working as the head of Trans* content for the studio as we prepare for the launch of the Oculus Rift.
PornOCD: How much work did it take to get noticed?
Chryssi: A fair bit. I count my first shoot with Shemale Yum back in September as when I really “got noticed”. It took me about three months of fairly dedicated work on social media to get myself to the point where I had enough of a presence to start doing real work.
PornOCD: Describe how you felt on your very first porn assignment.
Chryssi: Nervous as hell. I’d done some cam work on Chaturbate and a few scenes with Metaversexxx.com at that point, but it was my first big time shoot and I was pretty nervous and self conscious. Thankfully I had a really great photographer and he got me feeling pretty relaxed and we were able to do a good shoot.
PornOCD: Have your friends being supportive of your new career?
Chryssi: Thankfully yes, I’m lucky and have quite a few friends who are also involved with the industry. My current roommates are all camgirls or adult actresses, so we have a pretty good support network for each other.
PornOCD: You recently did a scene with Sasha Skyes. Tell us about that.
Chryssi: That scene will always be special to me. We both really wanted to shoot together before I went in for surgery. I’m very happy that we got to, and its a great scene. I wanted my last scene with a dick to be amazing and I think we definitely delivered. It was a pretty long day for us though. We got on location at about 3 in the afternoon and wrapped up at around 10 that night. I was completely exhausted afterwards but it was worth it.
PornOCD: Who is in your porn scene #bucketlist?
PornOCD: When was the last time you were star struck when you met someone?
Chryssi: I ran into Ryan Reynolds over the summer while he was in town filming ‘Deadpool’. I’ve always kinda had thing for him and (literally) bumping into him was pretty overwhelming.
Will you be attending the TEA (theteashow.com) awards this year?
Chryssi: Not this year, but I plan on attending in 2017.
PornOCD: How do you think TS porn genre is going?
Chryssi: I think it is a rapidly growing field. There are still improvements to be made, but I’m quite with happy with the turn that the mainstream is taking. I feel that the launch of Grooby’s new Tgirls.Porn site is going to be a big game changer, not just in the type of TG porn that is being produced, but in the way studios interact with their models. It’s a good time to be in the industry.
PornOCD: Who do you think is going to have a big 2016 in TS Porn?
Chryssi: Natalie Mars, Emy Amethyst, and River Stark would be the three that I would watch the closest personally. All three have gathered a decent following in a short amount of time and I think this year definitely belongs to them.
PornOCD: You are involved in VR Porn tell us all about that.
Chryssi: It is absolutely amazing. We are still in the trial and error stage for most of our work, but we are streamlining and perfecting the process and our new stuff is pretty awesome to watch. The VR headsets allow you to put yourself right in the middle of the scene. With our current camera we record 180 degree video and 360 degree sound, combined with the headset and a good pair of noise cancelling headphones you feel like you are totally immersed in the scene. Since we are trying to capture that sense of space, most of what we shoot on Metaversexxx.com is POV (Point-of-View).
PornOCD: What can your fans look forward to in the near future?
Chryssi: I’ve got a couple scenes planned out for the next few months with Sabina Sinn and a couple of new cuties down in Portland, so I’m hoping to have at least 6 – 10 new scenes out by the start of the summer.
PornOCD: How important is it to keep in touch with your fans?
Chryssi: I think it’s really important. I actually leave my DM on Twitter @ChryssiSteele open so that all my fans can get in touch with me. I like talking with people to find out what they would like to see from me, or what they like/disliked about scenes I’ve already done. Fan interaction is super important because without our fans, we don’t have an industry.
PornOCD: Have you given your Twitter fans a #Hashtag name yet?
Chryssi: Not yet, but I’ve been trying to think of one. I’m open to suggestions.
